The Weather in Zaragoza
Water is a fundamental asset in Aragon, so much so that by reason of the Zaragoza Expo 2008 a thematic pavilion was built in honor of the rivers and their ecosystems. Due to the great success that it had during the exhibition, they decided that the aquarium remain open indefinitely after exposure. Nowadays the Zaragoza Fluvial Aquarium is another attraction offered by this wonderful city.

Aquarium Fluvial of Zaragoza is the largest aquarium of freshwater in Europa
It has 3,400 square meters and makes it the largest aquarium of freshwater in Europe and the third largest in the world. But not only its particular dimensions do especial this aquarium, its design is spectacular and very interesting topic.
Among other things, we can see the ecosystems of 5 major river basins:
The longest river in the world performs 30% of its journey through extremely arid lands, this means that its ecosystem is a delicate balance.
The River Aquarium we can see the different ecosystems that exist in this river, which is born from the jungles to its river mouth.
It is the river that possesses a greater number of many species of giant fish, and second in terms of higher fish diversity behind the Amazon.
This river is a Biosphere Reserve since 1957, but in its banks live about 60 million people, so its ecosystem is permanently threatened.
This is the great river of the planet Earth, the most voluminous and second longest in the world. The Amazon is the most diverse and spectacular ecosystem known, with exuberant flora and fauna. In the aquarium we can observe some alligators, turtles, tropical fish, parrots …….
The Murray-Darling river system is the most important in Australia, caters to the 72% of all irrigated land of Australia. Its few tributaries, low rainfall and the great evaporation, coupled with the peculiarities of Australia as an island, make this river ecosystem has a very differentiated from the rest.
The word comes from Ebro “Iber”, a term that defined both the river and all around it.
It is not clear if it was the name of the river who defined its inhabitants as “Iberian” or vice versa, what is clear is the importance it has had and has this river to Spain.
It is the longest and mightiest river of Spain, and is the one that irrigates more communities
Although officially born in Fontibre, the truth is that it born in the peak Tres Mares (so called because it is the only mountain in Spain where its waters flow into three different seas), the Ebro born there, hides and reappears in Fontibre.
The Acuario Fluvial Zaragoza reproduced the biodiversity of the Ebro from its source to its river mouth in Tortosa.
The visit to Zaragoza Fluvial Aquarium can be done every day of the year except on 25 th of December and 1st of January that the aquarium is closed.
