The weather in Guadalajara
The Museum of Guadalajara is located in the Palace of the Infantry a magnificent building from the late fifteenth century and listed as the best architectural work of Guadalajara. Since its founding in 1838 not always was at this venue, in 1838 the Museum of Guadalajara began its activity in the Palacio de Antonio de Mendoza, sharing the place with the provincial prison until it was closed in 1861.

The Museum of Guadalajara is the oldest provincial museum in Spain, opened in 1838
Later in 1873 the Museum reopened in the Palace of the Infantry and remained in it until 1898, that it was moved to the Convent of the Conception. In this place it remained only one year because the roof of the convent collapsed. After this, it had to be rushed to the store of the Palacio de la Diputación de Guadalajara until 1972. When the works were discovered in the warehouse, they were exhibited a year later in which is its current headquarters, The Palace of the Infantry.
At the Museum of Guadalajara we can enjoy the cultural heritage of the province of Guadalajara, exhibited in three sections:
- In the section of Archaeology we have archaeological remains found in excavations of sites in the province, being the majority of the pieces exhibits in the museum from excavations from 1985. There are also found remains before 1973, which was when re opened the last time the Museum of Guadalajara.
- In the section of Ethnography we find the exhibition of objects that have relate to art, the customs and traditions of the province of Guadalajara. This collection was started in the early 80s with objects collected throughout the province relating to the farming, beekeeping, agriculture and crafts and other activities of its people.
- Finally in the section of Fine Arts Museum of Guadalajara is the oldest museum exhibit created from confiscated property to the Church after the confiscation of Mendizabal, the majority of the thematic of its works are religious. In this section we can enjoy works from the fifteenth century to the twenty-first century with more than 200 works of art divided among sculptures, paintings and antiques.
The visit to the Museum of Guadalajara can be done throughout the year, except Mondays and 1 and 6 January, Good Friday, 1 May 12 and September 13 and 24, 25 and 31 December, which will be closed ,
