The Museum of Book Fadrique de Basilea was inaugurated in 2010.
This museum is dedicated to the figure of that was the largest printer of the fifteenth century and developed his profession for more than thirty years in Burgos.
The museum born as an initiative of the editorial “Siloam, Arts and Bibliofilia” being a museum unique in Spain.
The visit to the Museum the Book is a wonderful opportunity for family tourism where you can enter the smallest in the history of the book. The museum exhibits papyrus scrolls and printed books of the fifteenth century, called incunabulums.
While you visit the Museum of Book, you can purchase any work or piece exposed, since in general are all for sale.

The Museum of Book is housed in a building with four floors and in it we can see the evolution of the book during different stages of history. At Museum of Book we discover from the
tablillas before the incunabula up to the eBook today, passing through the invention of printing.
The visit to the Museo of Book is done in descending order, we start by the fourth floor called “The origin of the Book” in which we see the first written manifestations, the evolution of their media, language and writing techniques during ancient civilizations like Egypt, Greece and Rome.
The third floor that we visit in the Museum of Book is called “The Medieval Illuminated” refers to medieval times and approaching us to the monastic writings and his role as conservatives of the writing. On this floor we can see blessed, apocalypse, bestiaries or Bibles, we can also see astrology treaties, cavalry or hunting, as well as some manuscripts.
The second floor is called “The Gutenberg universe” in this plant teaches us the step that will fifteenth century to the eighteenth century where we find the first books printed in the fifteenth century to the illustration, here we know impression techniques, the dissemination of the themes and etching techniques. This floor also we see the invention of printing and the century of the golden letters.
On the first floor of the Museum of Book called “The nineteenth and twentieth centuries” we see the period from the industrial revolution to the emerging electronic book. On this floor we can also enjoy the temporary exhibition hall.
The visit to the Museum of Book Fadrique de Basilea can be performed during every day of the year except Mondays that the museum is closed.
