The MUSAC or Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y Leon is in a new building designed as a large area for culture. The museum was built between 2002 and 2005 with a modern design and calls attention its facade with over 3000 crystals, inspired by the stained glass window of the Cathedral of León.
The MUSAC was inaugurated in 2005 as an open space to all visitors for the knowledge and diffusion of contemporary art. Its exhibitions are set in chronological order, starting in the eighties until the present. The highlight of the museum is the year 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the changes in the international political order

In The Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla and Leon there are more than 1650 works of near to almost 400 Castilian-Leonese, Spanish and international artists. For the creation of this collection has been needed a comprehensive study, research and preservation of contemporary art related to social situations and moments, political, aesthetic and cultural from those that they originating.
The Collection of the MUSAC is created since 2003 as a collection overseen by the Procurement Committee of the museum, this committee is composed of highly respected professionals in contemporary art. These artists have contributed their knowledge and experience to show the best collection of contemporary art back to the eighties that we can see in Spain.
The MUSAC’s collection is not on permanent display throughout the rooms of the museum but rather some of their funds are exposed periodically, rotating the works according to the chosen theme. Also in some ocassions part of his works are exhibited outside the museum, within an appropriate temporal context.
The acquisition of the large number of works of art of the MUSAC takes place either by obtaining the works from the artists or by purchasing on their Galleries. Another way to get artwork for the museum is through donations from the artists themselves. Also they can even acquire from the same museum, by producing the works to be exhibited later in the collection, which is constantly growing.
The visit to the MUAC can be made throughout the year except Mondays and January 1 and December 25, the museum will be closed,
